my dear friend bought me What Happens in Vegas. Pretty much for this scene alone. Hilarious, yes…would she do this for me? Absolutely. I’m not a violent person so I would never let her do this…but it is funny to think about, enjoy 🙂

In case you have not figured it out, recently my life has taken a strict turn in a direction I never thought it would. I never thought that it would be an accomplishment to make it though a week of work without crying (mind you I have not made it there yet, but I am hopeful that I will). My grief began as most people’s do: in total denial, and I still frequently feel that and ask “is this really my life?”. Well this is my life and though I may not be ready to embrace change I am doing my best to cope with the reality of it all…every single day.
My coping methods have varied over the weeks.
getting out of town when I can.
leaning on great friends.
and watching TV dramas mostly Grey’s Anatomy, Weeds, Mad Men, a little Gossip Girl and my favorite reality dramas The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and the new season of Teen Mom. It is a full drama buffet! On a good day the thrill of the fake drama is enough to distract me from my real life actual drama.
But there are days when I still feel like this….
(yes I realize the clip will direct you to YouTube to watch, sorry :()
yes. I love soup. Even in the summer. My 2011 goal to try two new recipes a month has started with soup. Cooking soup for one means I have plenty of left-overs for lunches which is quite convenient to grab as I run out the door in the morning praying that I don’t have to scrape my windshield.
This is the recipe I tried out. Except I forgot the parsley and I used some dry raviolis from Trader Joes instead of frozen ones oh and I used Italian sausage instead of ground beef (because I forgot ground beef however — I think Italian sausage has a better flavor anyways).
1 pound ground beef
1/4 cup soft bread crumbs
1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
3/4 teaspoon onion salt
2 teaspoons minced garlic (2 cloves)
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 1/2 cups finely chopped onion
1 – 28 oz can of crushes tomatoes in puree
1 – 6 ounce can of tomato paste
1 – 14.5 ounce can beef broth or bouillon
1 cup water
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 cup fresh parsley
1 – 12 ounce bag of frozen ravioli
Brown ground beef. Combine all ingredients except ravioli. Bring to a boil. Simmer for 30 minutes. Cook ravioli according to package directions and add to soup. Sprinkle with some extra parmesan cheese. Serves 6.
It turned out quite delicious, next time I may do a 14 oz can of tomatoes in puree and a 14 oz can of normal tomatoes to have a soup that is a little thicker.
I am sure this would have been delicious with some home-made bagel bread fresh from the bread machine but, unfortunately it smelled good but turned out burnt and rock hard on the bottom. Yikes.
So there you have it 2 recipes tried one fantastic and one that was not stellar. Oh and I used my bread machine so check that one off the list. But maybe I should change my goal to “Use bread machine once a month”. I found a recipe for herb focaccia that I hope will be more successful.
What did the Pink Lady say to the Pineapple?
I have no idea, but I have some pretty fruit hanging out in my kitchen. I still have not decided on my photography goal for the year. I am debating purchasing the UNmanual, but it is geared towards those with Canon cameras and I have a Nikon.
I did purchase a perfect bag to carry my camera in. Because that is the first step to taking photos right…bringing your camera with you.
I will also be consulting with my girlfriend Dano on some photography lessons. I love my camera but at the same time I feel like I know little about it. It is currently being used as a glorified point and shoot camera and I know she has so much more potential.
I also do have my new point and shoot nikon that I will be carrying for those times when my DSLR is just not appropriate.
In an unrelated note if you have not tried a Pink Lady apple you should. I’ve found them at my favorite Trader Joes. Yum.
